MP is 'arrested' in charity stunt
Ann Widdecombe MP is voluntarily arrested in a fundraising event
Ann Widdecombe MP had to appeal for her £35,000 bail money
A Kent MP has been "arrested" outside the Houses of Parliament in London in a stunt to raise funds for charity.

Ann Widdecombe, Tory MP for Maidstone and the Weald, wore a full prison-style uniform for the stunt in aid of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

She was then taken to the Clink Prison Museum, on London's South Bank, where she had to appeal for community support to raise money for her £35,000 bail.

It was part of the Guide Dogs Jailbreak event in aid of guide dog services.

Jailbreak coordinator Theresa Robberts said: "When someone loses their sight, they can also lose their independence.

"This lost mobility is rediscovered thanks to a guide dog, in a similar way to bail money bringing freedom to Ann Widdecombe."
