Fifty-one people have been charged following a series of police raids across London, Berkshire, Hampshire and the West Midlands.

Since last Wednesday's operation three more men have been detained.

The charges against the 51 include supplying Class A drugs and firearms. Twenty will go before magistrates in Southampton - 31 appeared on Thursday.

The raids at dawn on Wednesday - codenamed Operation Phoenix - were the result of an 18-month investigation by Hampshire Constabulary's Serious and Organised Crime Unit.

The operation was the biggest ever pre-planned raid by Hampshire Constabulary.

Earlier, Assistant Chief Constable Steve Watts described the operation as "an extremely successful piece of police work".
