Third held over armed robberies
Police investigation, West Norfolk
The armed robberies took place at homes and businesses
A third person has been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies in the Norfolk and Cambridgeshire fens.

Two men, aged 24 and 47, were arrested in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, in a joint firearms operation involving Cambridgeshire and Norfolk officers.

Later a woman, aged 44, was arrested at the same address.

A search is taking place at the arrest scene, which has not been disclosed, while those held await questioning.

The arrests follow armed robberies at homes and businesses in Northwold, Nordelph, Stowbridge, North Runcton, Elm, Wereham and Weeting.

Further arrests

Additional police resources have been put in place in the west of Norfolk in response to the offences, including extra armed police units and regular police patrols.

Det Insp Mark Beresford, of Norfolk Police, said: "This morning's arrests were made as part of a joint operation between Norfolk and Cambridgeshire Constabularies, which have worked closely on the inquiry.

"It remains a possibility that there may be victims of this gang of robbers who have yet to report any incidents to the police.

"I would urge them obviously to come forward and do so.

"The investigation continues and I don't rule out the possibility of further arrests at a later time."
