Investigators inspected the wreck of the two-seater microlight
Two men have been killed in a light aircraft crash.

The pilot and his passenger were flying in a Flexiwing two-seater microlight when it crashed into a field on the border of Beds and Northants.

Emergency crews were called to the scene close to the A6 near Rushden but the two men, thought to be from Bedford and Luton, died at the scene.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch officers were examining the wreckage on Monday afternoon.

A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said the crash was reported at about 2030 BST on Sunday.

The plane had taken off 40 minutes earlier from the Sackville Flying Club in Riseley, Bedfordshire.

The pilot is believed to have only recently qualified.

Police said the relatives of the victims had been informed but their names would not be released until formal identification had taken place.
