Student rowers in the north-east of England are preparing to go head-to-head in the annual university boat race on the river Tyne.
Teams from Newcastle and Durham universities will clash in the 11th Northumbria Water race on Saturday.
Crowds are expected to line the course which runs over 1,800 metres from Dunston Staithes to the finish line under Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
Last year, both Durham men's and women's senior teams took the title.
Other attractions at the event include dragon boats, canoe, water polo and sprint races and the Ellington Colliery Brass Band.
