Michael Lucas
Michael Lucas was killed after being hit by two cars
A 63-year-old man who died after he was hit by two vehicles on an approach road to the Dartford Bridge has been named.

Michael Lucas, of Pembury, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, was struck as he was in his broken down car on the A282 road.

He was hit by a Ford Transit van and a Citroen Xsara Picasso. He was taken to Darent Valley Hospital, Darenth, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

His wife Kate, 58, and three daughters paid tribute to him as a "humble" man who would be greatly missed.

He had been ill with ataxia, which attacks the nervous system, and his wife said he had "suffered the condition with courage".

He was born in Watford, where his mother and brother still live, and was a retired director of a printing business.

Essex Police said the southbound carriageway was closed for four hours after the accident last Friday, and traffic was diverted through the tunnel in both directions to cut congestion.

They have also appealed for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.
