Two students killed in a road crash involving four vehicles on the A27 in East Sussex have been named by police.
Gemma Louise Lee, 20, a passenger from St Leonards, died at the scene. She studied at Plumpton College.
Driver Jessica Nixon-Lea, 20, of Cirencester, Gloucestershire - who was studying in Brighton and living in Eastbourne - died later in hospital.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested and bailed over Tuesday's accident, pending further inquiries.
He was driving a van involved in the accident at Selmeston and suffered minor injuries.
The man, from Worthing, West Sussex, was questioned in connection with causing death by dangerous driving.
Ms Nixon-Lea died at Eastbourne District General Hospital on Wednesday.
Four other people suffered minor injuries - two male passengers and two male drivers.
Eastbourne MP Nigel Waterson, who has supported campaigns to improve the A27, called for urgent action.
Actor killed
He said: "How many more people have to be killed or seriously injured before those who oppose the dualling of the A27 see sense?"
A petition to "complete the extension of the A27 dual carriageway from Lewes to Polegate" has also been set up on the Downing Street website.
Organiser Sean Noon, a sales manager, said: "This road is not safe and I feel that if and when it becomes a dual carriageway, it will allow the traffic to flow better."
But Julia Lamprell, a resident of Alciston, near Selmeston, argued: "I don't think we need any heavier traffic along here [the A27]. It needs to be diverted really and taken somewhere else."
Actor Desmond Llewelyn, famous for his role as Q in the James Bond films, was killed in a crash on the A27 at Firle in December 1999.
