A teenager has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a grandmother in a car crash.
Maureen Waites, 64, from Wingate, County Durham, died on the Woolsingham bypass on her way to pick up a relative at Newcastle Airport in November 2006.
Rachel Begg, 19, of Whinbank, Ponteland, Northumberland, appeared before Newcastle magistrates accused of causing death by dangerous driving.
No plea was taken and she was given unconditional bail until 18 April.
Mrs Waites, of Wellfield Road North - a self-employed hairdresser - died in the collision on the A696 bypass, the hearing heard.
