Ten years after the murder of Billie-Jo Jenkins, Sussex Police have said they are still working to find her killer.

Billie-Jo, 13, was found battered to death on the patio of the family home in Hastings on 15 February 1997.

Her foster father, former deputy head teacher Sion Jenkins, now of Lymington, Hampshire, was acquitted of murdering her in a third trial last year.

On Thursday, a police spokeswoman said the murder remained unresolved and officers would follow up any leads.

She said: "The murder of Billie-Jo Jenkins remains an unresolved case and is therefore subject to regular review.

"We will continue actively to pursue any viable lines of inquiry."

On Tuesday, Mr Jenkins said the teenager's death "continues to hurt".

Mr Jenkins was initially convicted of murder but maintained his innocence during the two appeals and three trials.

He always insisted Billie-Jo must have been killed by an intruder while he went to a DIY store after leaving her to paint the patio doors.
