Play area gets £57,000 facelift
A run-down play area in a County Durham town has been given a new lease of life after a £57,000 revamp.

Darlington Council spent the money on the Fryer Crescent area, in Haughton, as part of an on-going multi-million pound makeover of parks and play areas.

In total the council is spending £8m on revamping green spaces and parks as part of its Local Area Agreement (LAA).

In recent years play equipment at Fryer Crescent has been removed for safety reasons, but has now all been replaced.

Jenny Chapman, Darlington Council's cabinet member for leisure services, said: "The play area here was once in a very sorry state, but it is great to see how much things have improved thanks to this project.

"Local families now have somewhere they can enjoy and I hope as many people as possible take the chance to have a look at what is now available."
