Father denies baby murder charge

A 24-year-old County Durham man accused of murdering his baby daughter has appeared in court.

Christopher Jewell, of Oakfield, Newton Aycliffe, was charged following the death of four-month-old Demi Jewell.

The child was taken in January from her Ritson Road home to hospital with serious head injuries and died two days later.

Mr Jewell denies murder and was remanded at Teesside Crown Court to reappear on 19 November.
