TV firm cuts workforce by third
Television manufacturer Sanyo is to make 100 people redundant at its plant in Lowestoft.

The company said the reduction of the workforce by a third will take place in stages and the first 30 staff will leave just after Christmas.

Lowestoft College is offering training for those affected to find new jobs.

Sanyo is the only television maker now operating in the UK and has blamed cheap imports from China and Turkey for their need to cut the workforce.

A management spokesman said he hoped this would be the end of job cuts at the television factory.
