Rail passengers will be able to buy tickets online and print them off at home under a new scheme.
Virgin Trains is beginning a trial of print-at-home tickets on two of its busiest routes.
The tickets will be available between London and Birmingham and between London and Manchester from Monday.
The advance single tickets will be available on trains with spare capacity and the cheapest fares will cost £7 for Birmingham and £9 for Manchester.
They tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable.
The Print@home scheme is already working well for airlines and cinemas, Virgin said.
