Fields and woodlands hit by fires
The hot weather has led to a spate of fires in fields and woodlands across the north east of England.

Both the Tyne and Wear and Durham fire brigades say they have attended dozens of outbreaks over the weekend.

In Northumberland, five acres of grass and woodland have been alight since Thursday, with crew still at the scene on Sunday afternoon.

There are fears the blaze at the plantation at Hepple near Rothbury could spread to nearby moorland.

The Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service's efforts have been hampered by increasing winds.
