Man charged with robbery shooting
A 33-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a member of staff working at a BP petrol station in Surrey was shot in the face.

It happened in Star Lane, in the village of Hooley, near Redhill, during an attempted robbery on Thursday.

Jamie Lane, from Camberwell, south-east London, was remanded in custody by Staines magistrates on Saturday.

He is due to appear before the Old Bailey on 27 October for a plea and directions hearing.

Mr Lane, who is unemployed, also faces charges of attempted robbery, grievous bodily harm, and possession of a firearm.

The victim was treated at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, West Sussex, for an injury to his left cheek.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident at 1700 BST, or who was in the area at the time.
