Pair rescued from burning house

A father and daughter were rescued from a house fire in County Durham.

Fire crews from Spennymoor and Sedgefield were called to the property on Furthersham Terrace at Ferryhill Station on Sunday evening.

Rescuers managed to pull the pair, who have not been named, from the house. They were treated for smoke inhalation.

A spokesman for Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said it was not yet known how the fire started. No-one else was in the property at the time.
