Firefighters rescue bird of prey
Firefighters have chopped down a tree to rescue a bird of prey which was trapped in the branches.

Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service was called on Thursday afternoon to St Cuthbert's Road, in Thornley, County Durham.

Firefighters cut down the tree with the hawk still attached to the branches by its straps.

The bird, named Raider after video game heroine Tomb Raider Lara Croft, was released and reunited with its owner.
