Station closure hits rail service

Work is being carried out at King's Cross and on its rail lines

Rail passengers are facing disrupted journeys to and from London over the next three Bank Holidays because of maintenance work.

Work on King's Cross station and tracks around Finsbury Park will hit services from Norfolk, Cambs, Herts and Beds.

King's Cross is closed until Monday afternoon for work on overhead lines between the station and Finsbury Park.

Passengers from King's Lynn will have to change at Cambridge or Royston and then get a service to Finsbury Park.

All services will start and terminate at Finsbury Park, where passengers can link get on London Underground. Network Rail said their train tickets would be valid on these services.

Network Rail are carrying out a £20m programme to improve the overhead lines between King's Cross and Hitchin.

Director Dyan Crowther said: "We carry out these large-scale engineering works over Bank Holiday weekend periods when fewer people are travelling and this helps minimise disruption to passengers.

"Other engineering works will be carried out from Saturday 29 April to Monday 1 May and from Sunday May 28 to Monday May 29."
