Late-night trains have begun running throughout Tyne and Wear thanks to a timetable shake-up.
Metro operator Nexus has revised its timetable to provide later trains for passengers returning from nights out.
The move is in response to customer feedback asking for later services to get home from city centres.
The last train from Newcastle to Sunderland is now at 2319 GMT and passengers can catch a train to the Regent Centre after midnight.
Two new escalators have also been installed at Monument station in Newcastle at a cost of £380,000.
Director of Metro Ken Mackay said: "We have listened to our customers to provide this later service on Metro.
"We always strive to provide the best service possible for passengers and I am pleased to introduce these timetable alterations."
The last train from Monument to the coast, via South Gosforth, now departs at 2339 GMT and the last service from Monument to the coast via Wallsend departs at 2334 GMT.
