Poll reveals UK's sexiest cities

Users could vote for their home city or town

Leeds is the sexiest city in the UK according to a new poll.

Leeds just pipped Exeter to the top spot after a month long competition on the Young Persons' Railcard-backed website "sexyinthecity".

It featured photographs of the UK's finest 18 to 25-year-olds going head-to-head in the looks department.

Other English towns and cities in the top ten were London, Brighton, Chelmsford, Manchester and Norwich. Northampton came bottom in the survey.

Supporters could upload their own images to boost their city's chances of winning.

Joanna Ford, marketing manager for Young Persons Railcard, said the competition was fierce.

"It was a really close call, but in the end Leeds was victorious," she said.

"Leeds has an impressive list of famous sexy residents - Nell McAndrew, Jeremy Paxman and Miss Leeds, Joanna Wilkinson to name a few - but even so, not everyone agreed on the outcome.

"In creating the Sexy in the City website we seemed to have sparked off a bit of a debate!"

Ms Ford added: "What is considered sexy is often a matter of personal opinion - so it begs the question, are the people of Leeds really the sexiest, or have the locals simply shown more commitment to their hometown?"
