A mother who allegedly left her three young children at home to go on a two-week holiday to Turkey has been arrested on suspicion of neglect.
Kelly Ann Piggford, was picked up by Durham Police shortly after flying back in to the UK on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old from Darlington claims she left her daughters, aged two and four, and her 11-month-old son, with their 20-year-old godfather.
Social Services were called and the children were placed with relatives.
Police arrested Ms Piggford soon after she landed on an early morning flight at Durham Tees Valley Airport.
Darlington Borough Council social services were alerted two weeks ago by neighbours who said the children had been left in the care of a 15-year-old babysitter.
She denies this and has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
