The presenter of BBC South's flagship news programme has been given her MBE by the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Sally Taylor, who has fronted South Today since 1988, was given the award for services to regional broadcasting.
Ms Taylor, who lives in Hampshire, has said she has enjoyed her years of regional broadcasting for the "interaction" she has had with viewers.
Ms Taylor underwent surgery for breast cancer in 1999 and is closely involved in a number of charities as a result.
She was made an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list in June.
