There were emotional scenes on Tuesday night as soldiers from the Territorial Army based in the South East returned from a six-month tour of duty in Iraq.

For many TA members from the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment, it was their first taste of active service.

Lisa Robins, from Camberley in Surrey, said it had been a worrying time.

But her fiance Lee Fisher said it was "just good to be home", adding that the couple could now look forward to their wedding in January.

Ms Robins said the most difficult part had been watching news reports about soldiers being killed and injured in the Gulf.

"It is especially worrying when you can't hear from them straight away," she added.

The soldiers will now get a few weeks off before returning to their civilian jobs.
