A man charged with two rapes at two separate universities in 1989 has appeared in court via a prison TV link.
Paul Collings is accused of raping a 21-year-old woman at the University of Sussex in Brighton and an 18-year-old at the University of Kent, Canterbury.
He is also charged with two counts of indecent assault on another 18-year-old woman at Kent university.
Mr Collings, 38, of Icklesham, near Hastings, is due before Maidstone Crown Court on 21 February to enter pleas.
'Scientific evidence'
The alleged attacks took place in October and December 1989.
Mr Collings was arrested in a joint operation between Sussex and Kent Police on 14 December.
He appeared before Maidstone Crown Court on Monday via a video-link from Elmley Prison, in Kent.
Andrew Lewis, defending, said he was expected to plead not guilty to the charges, and added that the case hinged on scientific evidence.
Mr Collings is due to return to court on Tuesday to apply for bail.
