A One spokesman said the new timetable would help boost the economy and develop tourism.

Improved service

One managing director, Tim Clarke, said: "The new December timetable will deliver a major improvement for passengers.

"Many key stakeholders have supported our plans in helping boost economic activity and develop tourism through improvements to the rail network."

The Peterborough to London services will call at: Whittlesea, March, Ely, Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, Ipswich, Colchester, Witham, Chelmsford and Shenfield.

The journey time is expected to be just under 3 hours.
