Pilot faces trial on drink charge
A former Royal Brunei Airlines captain accused of drinking before a flight, has been committed to crown court to stand trial.

Charles Nicholls, 53, from Eastbourne, East Sussex, was due to fly from Heathrow to Brunei on 1 July.

The pilot, of Admiralty Way, Sovereign Harbour North, is charged with carrying out a flight preparation while over the prescribed alcohol limit for pilots.

He appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court, west London, on Thursday.

Mr Nicholls, of Admiralty Close, who was released on unconditional bail, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the hearing.

He is due to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on 7 December for a plea and directions hearing.
