Kerb-crawler banned from driving
A County Durham man has become one of the first people in England to receive a driving ban for kerb crawling.

Craig Golightly from Spennymoor, was banned for a month by magistrates in Middlesbrough on Thursday after he was arrested twice in the same evening.

The case comes as police in Cleveland are calling for magistrates to impose more driving bans on kerb crawlers.

In four cases heard at Teesside Magistrates' Court earlier this month, all the offenders received fines.

The force and Middlesbrough Council said earlier that they would continue their fight against prostitution in the town and work for heavier sentences.

Insp Gary Gamesby said: "I will be coming back time and time again to this court demanding that the magistrates use this power.

"We have arrested over 1,000 kerb-crawlers in the last five years, we aren't going to stop."
