Police to keep Reynolds cash
George Reynolds
George Reynolds resigned as Darlington chairman in January
Former Darlington FC chairman George Reynolds has failed in his bid to have £500,000 returned to him by police.

Reynolds and two other men were arrested in County Durham on Monday on suspicion of money laundering.

On Wednesday, Darlington magistrates granted a 28-day extension to officers who had seized the money from the boot of Reynolds' car.

Police had applied under the Proceeds of Crime Act to hold the cash while their investigations continued.

The men were arrested by officers from the Regional Assets Recovery Team, based at Aykley Heads police headquarters in Durham City.

All three were released on police bail at 2200 BST on Monday following questioning.
