Actor among East Midlands winners
John Hurt

Actor John Hurt is among a list of people from the East Midlands on the Queen's Birthday Honour list.

Mr Hurt, from Shirebrook in Derbyshire, has been awarded a CBE for services to drama. He has appeared in a range of films, from The Elephant Man to Alien.

Also on the list is Professor David Wallace, the vice chancellor of Loughborough University, who has been awarded a knighthood.

Nottingham boxer Jawaid "Too Sleek" Khaliq gets an MBE.

Khaliq became the IBO world welter-weight boxing champion last March after beating the holder, Willie Wise, of New York.

The chief constable of Leicestershire Police, Matt Baggott, gets the Queens Police Medal.

Also in Leicester, an MBE has been awarded to Edmond Isaac, a customer service officer at Leicester train station who is known for his helpful manner.

Four people from Lincolnshire were awarded an MBE - Frank Barrett for services to the Royal Air Forces Association, Pamela Reeve for community work, Peggy Spaight for services to the NHS and Brian Miller for his work on the St Giles Estate in Lincoln.
