Beaches win Tidy Britain awards

Two beaches in Felixstowe have won the Seaside Award flag
Well-managed beaches in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk have won a clutch of Tidy Britain Campaign awards.

Nine Essex winners include Frinton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze for the first time, with Clacton top of the East Anglian beaches and seventh nationally.

Suffolk has 10 winners, including beaches in Felixstowe and Lowestoft. Norfolk will be flying seven Seaside Award flags this year - three fewer than 2003.

Heacham North and South and Snettisham did not enter the awards.

In Suffolk the Seaside Award has gone to: Aldeburgh, Felixstowe South, Felixstowe The Dip, Kessingland, Lowestoft North, Lowestoft South, Sizewell, Southwold Denes, Southwold Pier and Thorpeness.

In Essex the winners are Brightlingsea, Clacton West, Dovercourt Bay, Frinton-on-Sea, Leigh-on-Sea Bell Wharf, Southend Shoebury Common, Southend Shoeburyness East, Southend Three Shells and Walton-on-the-Naze.

In Norfolk the flag will fly at Cromer, Great Yarmouth Central, Great Yarmouth Gorleston, Hunstanton, Mundesley, Sea Palling and Sheringham.
