Two appear over toddler's murder

Eighteen-month-old Jordan died in hospital
The mother of an 18-month-old girl who died from head injuries has appeared in court charged with murder.

Sarah Collins, 24, and Darren Bennett, 25, appeared before Birmingham magistrates on Monday each charged with one count of murder.

Jordan McGann died in hospital on Friday - 36 hours after she was discovered at her home in Birmingham with severe head wounds.

The pair were remanded in custody to appear again on 16 August.

Ms Collins and Mr Bennett are also charged with two counts of child cruelty each.

One count relates to Jordan, the other to a five-year-old child, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
