Missing girl seen in Blackpool
Stacey Champ and David Milner
Stacey is believed to have left with Mr Milner on Thursday
A teenager and a 46-year-old man she has gone missing with posed as a husband and wife when they stayed at a Blackpool hotel.

Kent Police said Stacey Champ and David Milner posed as "Mr and Mrs Thomas" when they stayed in the hotel on Thursday and Friday night.

The 14-year-old, from Gillingham in Kent, and the man believed to be David Milner checked out on Saturday, and police appealed for information on where they have been since then.

Police also said a vehicle thought to have been used by the pair had been found at a railway station in Bristol.

The van was found at Bristol Temple Meads station, and was presumably left there before they headed to Blackpool, Inspector Richard Watson of Kent Police told a press conference.

He said there was also a reported sighting of the pair in Newbury in Berkshire during the day on Thursday.

Inspector Watson said the sightings were very encouraging, but they were still keen to find the pair.

They were wheeling a very large black suitcase and travelling in either public transport or a hire car, he said.

Airports and ports around the country have been alerted to look out for Stacey, who has been missing since Thursday morning.

The pair may have travelled from Gillingham to Blackpool via Bristol

Police said Stacey's friends had suggested that she may try go abroad with Mr Milner, a friend of her family, even though the schoolgirl is not thought to have a passport.

More than £1,000 has been withdrawn from Mr Milner's bank account in the last few days.

Stacey's mother, Angela Champ, broke down in tears as she appealed for the teenager to return at a press conference on Saturday.

She said: "I just want you to come home. You are not in any trouble. I love and I miss you.

"Please just come back. Just let me know that you are okay and just come home."

She told Stacey her cat Max was missing her greatly.

Earlier, Inspector Watson also appealed to Stacey to make contact.

Money withdrawn

Insp Watson said to Stacey: "We need to make sure that you are okay.

"If you want to ring mum, ring the local police station or ring the police station here, we just want to know you are okay."

The schoolgirl is 5 ft 3 in tall and has long, light brown hair with blonde streaks.

She was wearing blue jeans, white Airtech trainers and a blue baseball cap but has taken other clothes with her, police said.

The pair are believed first to have met through Stacey's mother between 18 months and two years ago.

Mr Milner, who was last seen on Thursday, is 5 ft 8 in, slim and has short dark hair with a "five o' clock shadow", was originally a colleague of Mrs Champ.

He wears black-rimmed metal glasses and has a Manchester accent.

As well as trying to trace the work van they think Mr Milner has used, police stressed they are keen to find other cars he has had access to.

They are a blue Proton - registration G60 SKE - and a five-door red Ford Escort Sapphire, registration M69 WJN.

Police said Stacey had appeared to have taken a mobile phone with her but it was switched off.

Stacey's father, who does not live with her mother but also comes from Gillingham, has been informed of the search for her daughter.
