Deepcut soldier on new sex charges
Leslie Skinner
Leslie Skinner is due in court again on 26 August
A former soldier who was based at the Deepcut barracks in Surrey has been charged with more sexual offences, police have said.

Leslie Skinner, 45, of Spafford Close, Marton, Lincolnshire, was last month charged with one count of male rape and five counts of indecent assault.

On Tuesday he was charged with a further two offences of indecent assault on a male.

The offences are all alleged to have happened at or near the barracks in Surrey.

Mr Skinner, who is no longer in the army, was a lance corporal and training instructor when he served at Deepcut with the Royal Logistics Corp.

'No connection to deaths'

The six charges brought against Mr Skinner in July related to offences said to have happened in 1996 and 1997.

The two new charges relate to offences alleged to have occurred in 1997 and 1998.

The deaths of four young soldiers at Deepcut barracks have been investigated by police and independent experts after their families disputed the army's conclusions that they had committed suicide.

A Surrey Police spokeswoman said on Tuesday: "Although these allegations have been investigated by the same team looking into the deaths of four soldiers at Deepcut barracks in 1995, 2001 and 2002, there is no evidence to suggest that there is a direct connection between them."

Mr Skinner has been bailed to appear at Guildford Magistrates Court on 26 August.
