Schiffer charges dropped

The German supermodel has a 7.5m home in Suffolk
Crown Prosecution Service lawyers have dropped charges against a kitchen porter accused of harassing supermodel Claudia Schiffer.

Agostino Pomata had been due to go on trial accused of harassing Miss Schiffer at her home last year.

The model lives at Coldham hall at Stanningsfield, near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

But magistrates in Bury St Edmunds were told on Thursday that Mr Pomata, a 34-year-old Italian who worked at a cafe in the town, had been detained under mental health legislation.

The Crown Prosecution Service have now decided that it would not in the public interest to continue with the case.

Magistrates discontinued the charges after being told that Mr Pomata was undergoing psychiatric treatment.

Mr Pomata had earlier denied harassing the German model on several occasions between 23 September and 12 November 2002.
