Widow's relief at killer's death

The widow of a Birmingham man who killed his two sons with a screwdriver has said she no longer fears for her future.

Steven Wilson, 44, was found hanging by his shoelaces from the upturned end of a bed at Blakenhurst Prison in Worcestershire on Sunday.

He was only five days into a life sentence for murdering his sons Brad, seven, and Brett, eight, whose bodies were found on a golf course in Handsworth, Birmingham, last year.

Denise Williams, 26, who Wilson had forced into prostitution, said she is relieved that she no longer has to worry about him getting out of prison.

"Because of Steven's evil acts I know he will be going to hell," she said.

"Justice was done at the trial and, now he is dead, justice for me is complete.

"My boys are in heaven - Steven is in hell.

"The result of the trial was a big relief to me. I felt that, to a degree, justice had been done.

"I wanted Steven to suffer for what he has put my boys through.

She added: "I didn't feel safe even though he was locked away - I always felt I should be looking over my shoulder.

"When I was told he had killed himself I felt relieved that I no longer had to fear him and worry about the future or him getting out of prison."
