Ski centre plans unveiled
Quarry at Great Blakenham
The quarry could be transformed into a snow centre
Plans have been put forward to transform a former quarry into a multi-million pound ski and leisure complex.

The £300m Snowasis project - which would create 1,000 jobs - has been floated for a site in Great Blakenham, near Ipswich, Suffolk.

Plans for the attraction, which would be bigger than the Snowzone at Milton Keynes, include ski lodges, a hotel and restaurants.

Stephen Andrews from Mid Suffolk District Council said he thinks the project is viable, but a number of environmental issues need to be considered.
