Crimewatch brings 'new Hannah leads'
Hannah Foster

Several new leads are being followed up in the hunt for the killer of murdered teenager Hannah Foster, detectives have said.

The development follows a reconstruction of Hannah's last movements, shown on the BBC's Crimewatch programme on Wednesday night.

Hannah's parents also made an appeal to help police catch their daughter's killer.

Detectives have since had several calls saying the 17-year-old may have been seen with a man in a hatchback car late on the evening she died.

Another caller said they had seen her walking home with a man following her.

There were other calls related to Southampton and Southsea in Portsmouth.

The latter was where her bag and mobile phone were found in a glass recycling centre.

Hannah's body was discovered in undergrowth in West End, on the outskirts of Southampton on 16 March, two days after she went missing.

In the programme, Hilary and Trevor Foster spoke of their grief over Hannah's murder.

Mrs Foster said: "It's just knowing how frightened she must have been at some stage and we can't get beyond that.

"Hannah was always a very happy person, one of those sort of children with a ready smile.

"She's just the sort of girl that you just always felt very proud of."

Enhance 999 call

Mr Foster, 53, said: "She was always very protective, that's the one thing that struck me how protective she was to her younger sister.

"If ever I was telling Sarah off she'd always try and pacify me or take the blame."

Hannah was last seen as she waved goodbye to a friend getting on to a bus in Highfield Lane - just half-a-mile from her home in Grosvenor Road - at 2250 GMT on Friday, 14 March, after a night out .

Police have revealed that she made a 999 phone call but no discernible sounds were heard.

They are now trying to enhance the sounds of what they say may be a man talking in the background.

Hannah's body was found two days later in undergrowth at the side of Allington Lane in West End about five miles from Hannah's home.

On Tuesday, police said that advice from forensic psychologists has informed them the probable motive for the killing was sexual.

They also said they had eliminated two men from the investigation who were seen parked in a dark-coloured saloon car close to where Hannah was last seen.

But they are still keen to trace a man, or men, of Asian appearance who spoke to Hannah close to her home address in Grosvenor Road on two separate occasions at the end of January and end of February.
