RNIB announces school's closure
A school in Shropshire which is one of only three in the country to teach both blind and deaf children and adults is to close.

The future of Condover Hall, near Shrewsbury, has been under discussion for several years.

Now the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB), which runs the school, has said it is no longer viable.

Condover Hall caters for people from the age of eight to 18. It also has an adult education centre for 19 to 24-year-olds.

'Sell building'

The school's closure will be phased in from this September to July 2005.

Neville Lawson, assistant director of the RNIB, said the organisation may look for new owners of the building.

He told BBC Radio Shropshire: "I would expect that after the closure has happened, we will put the building on the market and sell it.

"But that is some time ahead and we won't be doing anything about that for some time yet."
