Staff at the Dr Martens factory in Leicestershire are preparing for their final week at work.
Dr Marten shoes are an iconic British brand
The Whetstone branch is due to close on Friday.
The firm which makes the famous shoes, the Northamptonshire-based R Griggs Group, is moving its production to China.
It says the move will save it huge amounts in labour costs and help the firm compete more effectively.
The shoes have been popular with young people but the brand has witnessed declining sales over the past decades.
R Griggs announced last October that it was cutting more than 1,000 jobs in total with the closure of its factories in Whetstone, Northamptonshire and Somerset.
The company says it regrets having to make redundancies, but has been working with the employees to help them re-train and find new jobs.
