Hannah police appeal for driver
Hannah Foster
Hannah's body was found on the outskirts of the city
Detectives investigating the murder of schoolgirl Hannah Foster want to trace the driver of a dumper truck seen close to the spot where her body was found.

A witness saw the lorry in Allington Lane, West End, on Saturday, the day after 17-year-old Hannah disappeared.

She was found strangled to death the next day in undergrowth by the side of the road.

Post-mortem results just released have shown she died at least 24 hours before she was found.

Police are also keen to trace two taxi drivers who were parked by Roddington Forge industrial park in West End, Southampton, also on Saturday morning.

A van driver told police he was driving along Allington Lane at 0730 GMT when he had to brake suddenly as a dumper truck driver was coming towards him.

He also spoke to the two taxi drivers to ask for directions.

A police spokeswoman said: "Officers are now keen to find the dumper truck driver and the taxi drivers who were parked by Roddington Forge, as they believe they could possess vital witness information."

Map showing Hannah's movements in Southampton
Hannah was last seen at 2250 GMT on Friday when she waved goodbye to a friend getting on a bus on Portswood, outside the Mitre pub.

Police have also renewed an appeal to anyone who was drinking in the Mitre between 2100 and 2300 GMT.

Detective Inspector Tony Adams said: "It is very possible that customers in the pub may have seen Hannah and her friend waiting at the bus-stop and we urgently want to hear from anyone who did.

"It was Comic Relief night and the pubs would have been crowded, somebody must have seen these girls waiting at the bus stop and could be unaware that they hold vital information."

Specialists are still examining a tape of a 999 call Hannah made ten minutes after she disappeared.

The call, which was logged at 2300 GMT, lasted for less than two minutes and had faint sounds in the background but nothing immediately discernible.

A man was questioned on Wednesday afternoon in Southampton but later released.

Police are still looking for an Asian man, who approached Hannah twice in the past two months close to her home and called her by her name.
