Watchdog's order to Hull phone firm

The phone firm has been ordered to introduce more Internet access
Hull phone company Kingston Communications has been ordered to take steps to introduce more choice for Internet users.

The move is part of new regulations being introduced by the telephone watchdog Oftel.

The firm owns and controls access to phones lines in the city.

Any company which wants to offer unlimited Internet access has either to build its own telephone network, or go through Kingston Communications.

Oftel's regulations, which come into effect on 25 July, mean the company will have to provide this access.

The new ruling also applies where other service providers offer cheaper phone calls which customers can take advantage of by dialling a code before making the call.
