Footballer admits firework attack
Luke Rodgers
Luke Rodgers had previously denied the charge
A Shrewsbury Town footballer has admitted maliciously injuring a teenage girl with a lit firework which hit her in the face.

Luke Rodgers, 21, from Hodge Hill, Birmingham, pleaded guilty when he appeared at Warwick Crown Court on Monday.

Sarah Morris, 16, needed skin grafts after a firework was thrown at her as she walked home in Castle Bromwich last October.

Rodgers had previously denied responsibility for the incident.

The 21-year-old is Shrewsbury Town's top scorer so far this season.

He has been bailed for pre-sentence reports.
