Homes boost for rural Cumbria
Rural Cumbria
Cash will be provided for areas across the county
People who want affordable housing in rural Cumbria are being told that 200 homes will be provided this year.

The promise comes from a government agency called The Housing Corporation.

It funds and regulates over two thousand housing associations in England.

A range of housing associations will be offering homes in Grasmere, Kirby Lonsdale, Keswick, Cockermouth, Windermere, Ulverston and Penrith.

The Housing Corporation is investing over £11m and, by attracting other funding, it is hoped a total of £16.9m will be put into Cumbria's economy.

In February, deputy prime minister John Prescott promised that people looking for affordable homes in the Lake District would benefit from new investment.
