Council says work threatens wildlife
Children on track
Rail authority says bushes are a haven for vandals
Network Rail is facing legal action from a Leicestershire council which is accusing it of endangering wildlife.

Oadby and Wigston Borough Council is considering suing the company which is responsible for track up-keep.

The council claims contractors hired by Network Rail to clear vegetation from sidings in Wigston have devastated an important wildlife habitat.

However, Network Rail says the area is a notorious spot for trackside vandals who attack passing trains and put passengers' lives at risk.

It claims clearing away the vegetation will get rid of the troublemakers.

But the council says the work was done without its consent and the damage caused is irreparable.
