Andrew Clinton suffered head and spinal injuries
A fireman is critically ill in hospital after an accident during a training session at his Birmingham station.

West Midlands Fire Service said Andrew Clinton suffered head and spinal injuries when he fell from the deck of a hydraulic platform at Bournbrook fire station on Sunday.

A brigade spokesman confirmed the 52-year-old was being treated at the city's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where his condition is described as stable.

Mr Clinton is believed to have fallen about 10ft on to the forecourt of the station while instructing other firefighters.

The spokesman said it is not yet clear how the fireman was injured.

"We don't know what happened, but the accident will be thoroughly investigated and our thoughts are obviously with his family," he said.
