Fines have been issued for litter dropping

A campaign to clean up Rotherham has won a national award.
The town's Clean Sweep Initiative was named the best new green initiative by ENCAMS, an environmental charity and organisers of the Keep Britain Tidy campaign.
During last year a team of council staff handed out 250 fines to people caught dropping litter.
They also brought to book 101 dog owners who let their pets foul public land.
And there was further success for South Yorkshire, with new initiatives in Sheffield earning the runners-up award.
Both the city's Graffiti Action plan and Bring Out Your Rubbish day, to cut down on flytipping, were praised.
