Gatwick plans give villagers hope
Airport arrivals board
Villagers hope the airport threat will disappear
Protesters battling to stop an airport being built in Warwickshire believe they now have a better chance of winning their fight.

The government announced on Thursday that two new runways could be built at Gatwick - and that has given a boost to the campaigners in Warwickshire.

The Gatwick plans have been published after the High Court ruled that leaving the airport's proposals out of a nationwide consultation on the future of UK air travel was unlawful.

Residents of Kings Newnham and Church Lawford, two villages under threat from a possible airport in Warwickshire, must now wait until the autumn before the government makes a final decision.

Villagers have welcomed Gatwick's inclusion for possible expansion, but Mark Tissington, from the joint villages' anti-airport group, said the delay was still causing much concern.

The government's air proposals include a possible second runway at Birmingham International Airport.
