Burglar's biblical gift baffles police
Police in Dorset believe the Bible was originally stolen
Detectives are appealing for the public's help in identifying an unusual trophy left behind during a burglary in Dorset.
Pictures have been released of a large decorated Bible, which was discovered in a property in the Ashley Cross area of Parkstone in Poole in October following an overnight burglary. Police believe the bible was stolen from elsewhere, but have not been able to find the owner.
Detective Constable Alan Setchell of Poole CID, said: "We hope that by releasing the pictures we can find the Bible's owner - this could help in our investigation into the burglary." Scenes of crime examiner Paul Barnett, who found the Bible, said: "When I saw the Bible in the lounge it looked out of place and this was confirmed by the surprised householder." Anyone who recognizes the bible is asked to contact Poole CID.
