Racist letter author discovered
Mr Patel was "seething with anger" over the insult
The person responsible for an abusive letter received by a Gloucester man has been traced, and his details passed to the police.
Pravin Patel, from Abbeydale, received the letter on 6 February from the company that runs the Nectar reward card scheme, Loyalty Management. On the envelope his surname was replaced by a racist insult. Nectar says the person who tampered with computer records was actually sacked last year for a separate disciplinary offence. "Mr Pravin's details were processed in autumn as we launched in the middle of September," said a spokesperson. Mr Patel said he was happy with the way the investigation had been handled. "The message has to be that this sort of thing should not happen. If other companies get the message and pass it on, so much the better," he said.
