Police say the incident happened in Smethwick on Friday.

The man, who has not been named, is recovering in hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The 29-year was driving his Green Rover along Wellington Street when two men, one armed with a gun, got into the back of his car.

They forced him into the nearby Merryhill Social Club car park and attempted to take his keys.

After a struggle, the pair ran off, but shot the victim in the arm.

They were spotted running past the social club towards Winson Green.

Both men are black. One is described as being light skinned, around 5ft 9ins and was wearing a dark deerstalker hat, while the other is around 5ft 3ins, of stocky build and had a goatee beard.

West Midlands Police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.
